Georgia Hall wins Roehampton Gold Cup

first_img Teenager Georgia Hall has become the youngest-ever winner of the Roehampton Gold Cup, just days after celebrating her 16th birthday. The Curtis Cup reserve, from Remedy Oak in Dorset, left the field standing with two level par rounds of 72 and won by three shots from professionals Holly Aitchison and Charlotte Ellis. Georgia kept her driver in the bag as she negotiated the parkland course in south-west London. She was rewarded by hitting every fairway and was able to play to the centre of the tricky greens to take on the challenging pin positions. Her scores included eight birdies during the day. Her success in this popular annual event, which is contested by a mixed field of amateurs and professionals, underlines her fine early-season form. Georgia, an England international, reached the semi-finals of the French Lady Junior Championship earlier this month and returned home to share first place in the Hampshire Rose with Lancashire’s Nikki Foster. She is a past winner of the English girls’ U13 and U15 championships and has been selected as a reserve for the Curtis Cup match at Nairn in June.
