first_imgAston Villa have released Darren Bent as Derby County step up their interest in the striker.The Englishman spent the second half of last season on loan at the iPro stadium, where he scored 12 goals in 17 appearances.At his unveiling last week, new Rams boss Paul Clement admitted he was interested in signing the 31-year-old permanently.“They are players [Tom Ince and Darren Bent] who were here last season and they did very well. They are under consideration,” said Clement.And any move for Bent now looks increasingly likely after Aston Villa elected to release the striker.The former Tottenham man’s contract was due to expire at the end of June and Villa have opted to end talks and allow their record signing to find a new club.
