Kolkata: Bidhannagar police have busted a fake medical racket and arrested the kingpin for duping lakhs of rupees from various medical aspirants by assuring them secure medical seats in colleges.On the basis of the complaint lodged by one Kaberi Sinha, the cyber crime department of Bidhannagar started a probe. According to police, the a 30-year-old man, Sandip Jaiswal set up an institute in the name of Education Point at Ballygunge Tarase near Golpark and also opened other branches in the city. Jaiswal has been arrested in this connection so far. Police are investigating if he was a part of any interstate racket. They also said Jaiswal duped Rs 35 lakh from a medical aspirant with assurances of a secure seat at a private medical college in the city. He and his associates told the aspirant that they would arrange a donor’s quota seat at KPC Medical College and got Rs. 35,30,000 from the family members of a medical aspirant. Investigation reveals that this racket has been active in and around Kolkata since 2016. Many others were also duped by them. Police have seized mobile phones, one Toyota Fortuner and bank related documents of two banks accounts. Police said Jaiswal was absconding but based on a specific complaint, police started a detailed probe in this regard and arrested him.
