Greek Cypriot fugitive remanded for seven days

first_imgA Greek Cypriot fugitive caught in the north with a pair of Turkish Cypriots alleged associates was remanded in custody for seven days on Friday, reports said.Iosif Iosif, aka Sifis, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon in a flat in Famagusta. He was found in possession of two 9mm pistols and some 100 rounds of ammunition.It appears he had escaped to the Turkish Cypriot breakaway state using a fake identity under the name Nicos Nicolaou. Two Turkish Cypriots who allegedly helped him were remanded in custody for three days.Iosif is wanted in the Republic in connection with the attempted murder of businessman Nicos Rodotheou on November 26.
